Monarch Acres is our family’s small farm in Shafer, Minnesota.
Livestock has been part of our lives for more than 25 years.
Our experience began with registered and commercial cattle, including managing herds. Today, we’re bringing that knowledge into our growing Dorper flock and building Monarch Acres around the livestock, land and values we believe in.
We’re interested in functional livestock, responsible management and finding better ways to make a small farm enterprise work.
And we’re sharing the process along the way.

Because we believe farmers learn best from other farmers who are actually doing it.
What started with a love for livestock has grown into something much bigger: a desire to build a farm around family, good land, good animals and bring it all together to share with our community.
We’re raising Dorper sheep with a long'-term vision for the flock and the farm. That means making thoughtful decisions about genetics, nutrition, pastures, animal health and the kind of livestock we want to have several generations from now.
We’re not interested in doing things just because they’ve always been done that way.

We believe people should be able to know where their food comes from-and, whenever possible, know the people who raised it.
